2 yrs Obstetrics RN Hospital Experience | ACLS, BLS, PALS, NR

OB RN Responsibilities

1. Provide comprehensive nursing care to pregnant women during all stages of their pregnancy, including prenatal, labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
2. Monitor and assess the health status of both the mother and baby, including vital signs, fetal heart rate, contractions, and postpartum recovery.
3. Assist with the management of labor, including monitoring progress, administering medication, providing pain relief, and assisting with the delivery process.
4. Educate and support expectant mothers and their families on various topics related to prenatal care, childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
5. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
6. Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and other treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
7. Assist with the preparation and maintenance of sterile delivery rooms and equipment.
8. Document all patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.
9. Provide emotional support and counseling to expectant mothers and their families, addressing their concerns and answering any questions they may have.
10. Respond to emergencies and provide immediate care as needed, including performing CPR and other life-saving measures.

5. Proficient in using medical equipment, including fetal monitors, IV pumps, and vital signs monitors.
6. Skilled in providing patient education and counseling on topics related to prenatal and postpartum care.
7. Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals.
8. Knowledge of infection control protocols and ability to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
9. Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple patient care tasks.
10. Compassion and empathy to provide emotional support to patients and their families during childbirth and postpartum.

Required Qualifications

1. Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
3. Previous experience in obstetric nursing is preferred but not required.
4. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
5. Additional certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required or preferred.
6. Knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations and guidelines related to obstetric care.
7. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
8. Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects and patients as required.
